Bogie-Mounted Brake System is a modular braking system developed for use in freight wagons. The system is designed to meet Indian Railways specification. This system shall fit on new wagons and can be retro-fitted on existing fleet wagons having maximum axle load of 22.9 tons.
Brake Cylinder with Inbuilt Slack Adjuster
Available in two variants: with Handbrake and without Handbrake.
- • Double acting
- • Empty mode stroke: 55 ± 10 mm
- • Loaded mode stroke: 70 ± 10 mm
- • Stroke length at pressure 3.8 ± 0.1 kg/cm² on loaded condition: 70 ± 10 mm
- • Stroke length at pressure 2.2 ± 0.25 kg/cm² on empty condition: 55 ± 10 mm
- • Automatic double acting slack adjuster with a total make-up capacity of 500 mm
- • Compensates for the combined effect of shoe wear, wheel wear and clearance
- • Extended Length: 1380 ± 10 mm
- • Minimum Length: 885 ± 10 mm
APM/RV (Automatic Pressure Modification Device / Ratio Valve)
- • Automatic load sensing without manual intervention
- • Optimal brake cylinder pressure control
- • Two-stage braking for Empty and Loaded conditions
- • Helps avoid wheel sliding in empty wagons
Salient Features
- • Enables wagon operation at up to 100 km/h in loaded condition, enhancing operational efficiency.
- • Lightweight and simplified design with fewer components, leading to improved system reliability and reduced maintenance effort.
- • Drop-in fitment design, allowing easy installation and contributing to increased productivity during wagon manufacturing and retrofitting.
- • Reduced servicing and maintenance time during regular and periodic overhauls, improving maintenance turnaround.
- • Integrated slack adjuster with brake cylinder, enabling easier and faster brake block replacement.
- • Automatic changeover through APM (Automatic Pressure Modification) with no manual intervention required, ensuring optimized braking performance.
- • Adaptable braking based on Full Load and Empty Load conditions.
- • Simplified rigging mechanism with only six linkages per bogie, minimizing brake force losses and improving overall system efficiency.
- • Built-in redundancy with dual brake cylinders per wagon.
- • In case of one cylinder failure, it can be isolated while the remaining system ensures approximately 50% braking force, maintaining safety and braking capability.
Applications
- • All types of railway freight wagons having maximum axle load of 22.9 tons such as BOBRN, BOBRNHSM1, BOXN, BOXNH1, BCN, BCNA, etc.
