The vacuum toilet is the obvious choice for a toilet system on a long or medium distance train.
The amount of water used for each flush is only about 0.5 litres, so the tank capacity, both for the fresh water and the waste, can be kept small.

The vacuum evacuation system is an advanced sanitation solution designed to ensure hygienic, efficient, and environmentally friendly waste management in modern high-speed rail applications.

Working Principle

The system operates on vacuum pressure technology, where waste is transported through pipelines using differential pressure rather than gravity.

  • A controlled vacuum is created within the system
  • Waste is swiftly evacuated into a centralized holding tank
  • Minimal water is used during flushing
Key Features & Advantages of Vacuum Evacuation System
  • Water Efficiency: Significantly reduces water consumption compared to conventional toilet systems, supporting sustainable railway operations.
  • Hygienic & Odor Control: The sealed vacuum system minimizes odor leakage and improves overall hygiene conditions inside the coach.
  • Lightweight & Compact Design: Requires smaller pipe diameters due to vacuum transport, contributing to reduced system weight and optimized space utilization.
  • High-Speed Compatibility: Designed to function efficiently under high-speed operating conditions, making it suitable for modern trainsets like Vande Bharat.
  • Centralized Waste Collection: Waste is collected in storage tanks for controlled disposal at designated facilities, ensuring environmental compliance.
  • Operational Efficiency & Maintainability:
    • Low water consumption, ensuring resource optimization
    • Environmentally responsible design, minimizing impact on human health and surroundings
    • Easy availability of spare parts, ensuring reduced downtime and simplified maintenance
